Announcer (00:08): This recording is an offering of Networks for Training and Development's Online University. Jen (00:21): Good evening, and thank you for joining this month's edition of Networks' Healing Circle, which takes place the first Monday each month at 8:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. My name is Jen, and I will be hosting this evening. June brings us the light of the Full Moon, which was visible Friday to Sunday. Starting on June 3rd, the Strawberry Moon is still brightening and sweetening our skies. Jen (00:59): This is the month of June. Some say named for the Roman goddess Juno, the protector and counselor of state who is equated to Hera, queen of the gods in Greek mythology and the goddess of love and marriage. This month brings us many celebrations. June is Pride Month, reminding us all that love is love, and the importance of allyship to show love and support. This is also the month that we celebrate our dads and grads as graduation season is among us, and Father's Day is around the corner on June 18th. On Wednesday, June 21st, we encounter the Summer Solstice, when the earth poles have their maximum tilt towards the sun, bringing us change and balance and the longest daylight day of the year. Jen (02:05): Welcoming the sun and all of its warmth into our hearts and lives. This month, as we celebrate love and pride, I would like to guide you on a rainbow meditation. I encountered this recently while researching different opportunities to change up my mediation practice, and I thought that it was fitting to share with all of you this evening. So, take a moment to become comfortable where you are, whether that is seated or standing, leaning or laying. You are welcome to close your eyes if that is something that is safe and comfortable for you to do. And, we ask just to be mindful in this space, as we set upon an exercise for relaxation. Jen (03:13): We'll start this by taking a deep breath in, through our nose, and breathing it out slowly through our mouth. Repeating this one more time, with a deep breath in through our nose. Holding at the top, briefly, and then breathing out slowly through our mouth. Notice the changes that have already started to occur. And, now, just breathing as you normally would, and starting to welcome relaxation. For this exercise, we're gonna imagine and visualize a big, beautiful rainbow set in front of us. We're gonna take a moment here, to conjure this image up in our minds, seeing all of the colors, feeling the colors and what they mean to you. Jen (04:45): Is this something that you're drawing in your imagination, or are you conjuring memories of rainbow sightings that you've experienced in your life? Drawing a good image in our brain and in our eyes of the rainbow that you need tonight, remembering to take nice, relaxing breaths. And, we're gonna imagine the first color, the color red, as it's glowing brighter than the rest of the colors in your rainbow. And, seeing red all around us. We're gonna breathe in that color red, that fierce, bright, and brave color red, and we're gonna think to ourselves, and you can say to yourselves as well, "I am safe, and I feel safe." Jen (06:17): Allowing that color red to empower us, and feeling bigger and braver as we set upon our next color. Looking at your rainbow now, imagining that color orange glowing bright and surrounding you. You're gonna breathe in that beautiful orange color, thinking to ourselves, "I feel my feelings stirring in my body." And, as you're thinking about your feelings, you're gonna say to yourself, "I feel peaceful." And, as you're basking in that peace, you're gonna give a moment just to take a nice breath here. And, we're gonna move onto the next color, the color yellow, glowing bright as the sun all around us. Jen (07:57): It may be a bold yellow, canary, that's up to you. You're gonna breathe in your yellow, and I invite you to think to yourself, that "I am powerful." Powerful like the sun, and powerful like you. And, we're gonna join ourselves in saying to ourselves that "I feel confident." Jen (08:51): Now, imagining that color green, starting to glow brighter as we focus on it, until we're surrounding ourselves with the color green. We're gonna breathe in the color green here, thinking to ourselves, "My family and friends love me, and I love them." Allowing that love to fill your heart, and bring a smile to your face if it's needed. And, saying to ourselves here, "I feel loved. I am love." And, sitting with this feeling of love and compassion, allowing it to fill any voids, allowing it to comfort, and holding onto that, and keeping it as we continue to move across our rainbow. Jen (10:44): Next, we're gonna bring our attention to the light blue in our rainbow. That light blue color just surrounding us, breathing in the glowing light blue. And, as we do this, we're gonna think to ourselves, "People listen when I talk, and I am a good listener." Breathing here, and saying to ourselves in our affirmation that, "I feel heard." I'm feeling the feelings that that evoked. Feeling heard and understood. Now, as we imagine a darker shade of blue, some will call this indigo, as the indigo is burning brighter and surrounding us. Taking a nice deep breath here, breathing in that indigo, and thinking to ourselves, "I have a great imagination." After all, we're just conjuring rainbows in our imagination, and we've made it through, nearly, the whole rainbow. Jen (12:53): Taking a nice confident breath in here, and using our imaginations for great, saying to ourselves that, "I see great things happening for me." Allowing yourselves to visualize and imagine some of these great things just on the periphery, ready when you're ready for them. Breathing here, and imagining the color violet, that nice purple hue getting brighter as we focus on the last color of our rainbow, and seeing the color purple surrounding us. As we're breathing in here, we're breathing in that color purple, and everything it represents. Thinking to ourselves, "I am wise." And saying to ourselves, "I am smart." Taking one last look at the big, bright, beautiful rainbow that we've created. And, taking a moment to notice if you see anything, if you may feel anything, hear anything, or notice anything. Jen (15:36): And, just being aware of whatever it is that's drawing your attention, making no judgments, and just honoring your observations, remembering that you are safe, that you are peaceful, you are confident, you are loved, you are heard, you are smart, and great things will be happening for you. Taking a moment now to take a deep breath in, breathing these affirmations, keeping them with you. Taking another breath in, wiggling our toes, bringing them back, and with this next breath, wiggling our fingers. And, that last deep breath, opening your eyes if they were closed, when you're ready. Jen (17:29): Taking a moment here to scan our body and our mind, tracking if there's any difference or anything new. Something that you might not have noticed before. Knowing that your rainbow lives rent-free in your brain, and you can conjure that and the energy behind it at any time. You can conjure those emotions and that strength and energy whenever you need it most. Thinking about the colors, and which one you needed the most tonight, and which one you might be coming back to for a little recharge. Knowing that you are your rainbow. You can trace the arc back and forth, tracking with your eyes, or even with your finger. Tracking with your breath to refocus on all the great happenings that are on their way. Taking a moment here, and coming back into our seats or our position where we were, and knowing that we can return to our rainbow any time we need it. Jen (20:11): I'd like to thank you all for joining us this evening. I'm gonna invite you to join us the first Monday of each month at 8:00 PM, Eastern Standard Time, as we share these brief, but very needed healing times together. Thank you very much, and be well.
